One of our first rescues was Mickey, an adorable 3 month old pit bull puppy. Mickey was found wandering along the railroad
tracks and brought in to the local shelter. He had a severe head wound which looked to be made by a claw hammer. Mickey
was in our care for a couple of months and his health seemed to be turning a corner and improving. But as fate would have it,
his wounds were much too severe and he couldn't fight any longer. Our vet said that even if Mickey had survived, he would have
had severe brain damage. To this day, Mickey is still very much with us in our hearts. He not only had an impact on us, but
there were also hundreds of people on Facebook that were following his progress on a daily basis. Animal Rescue is not an
easy task and it can easily bring you down. Pulling an animal from a shelter is both very rewarding and heartbreaking because
we walk by the kennels with tears pouring down our face, knowing that we can't save them all. We do what we do not only for
Mickey, but also for all of the other animals who so desperately need our help. These precious, innocent babies can't fight for
themselves so we fight for them. Our vet said that even if Mickey had survived, he would have had severe brain damage. To this
